Bing Soul - Dumbarton Road

I had walked past Bing Soul numerous times and was so intrigued by the menu displayed on the window, I’ve never tried Korean desserts but had heard some really great things, so I was really excited to try Bing Soul out!

Halalness: Everything here is halal and no alcohol is served.

Food:

There were so many appealing options on the menu I found it so difficult to decide what to order! The matcha and chocolate nut bubble waffle looked super tempting but I ended up going with the Mango Bingsu - it was a shaved condensed milk ice dessert topped with heaps of chopped mango, mango ice cream and a mango sauce. It was absolutely sensational and so refreshing! The mango was sweet and tasted so fresh, and the portion size was also quite generous. I noticed all of the desserts at Bing Soul had very generous portion sizes and unless you’re particularly hungry, it would probably be more ideal sharing them as it can be difficult to manage the whole thing.

The presentation for every dessert was also super lovely! I absolutely loved the concept of Bingsu and it was great how the bed of shaved condensed milk ice kept the whole dessert cool for so long and prevented the ice cream from melting. This would be the perfect summertime dessert! I did find that the shaved ice was not as enjoyable to eat as the rest of the dessert. It tasted quite bland and felt as though I was eating snow, especially towards the end when I was left with a big pile of it. But nonetheless, it was still an amazing dessert and something I would definitely order again!

Price:

The Mango Bingsu came to £7.99 which considering the size of the dessert, was quite reasonable. The bubble waffles were around £6 which was also really good! The menu overall was quite reasonably priced (considering the size of the desserts too). I would say that Bing Soul is definitely good value for money!

Ambiance:

I absolutely loved the interior of the cafe! There were different seating options that I really liked - benches, booths, tables and window-facing chairs that would be more ideal if visiting solo.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was very busy, pretty much all of the tables were occupied. The cafe had a contemporary feel and such cute decor! It was just so inviting and overall had amazing vibes.

Service:

On arrival, our table had not been cleared and we had to wait quite a long time for a staff member to clean it which was frustrating. But apart from that we didn’t face any issues, the staff were super attentive and even though I came with a group of friends, they remembered what each of us had ordered when bringing our desserts out without even asking! We probably waited around 15 mins for our orders to come, which I suppose was reasonable considering how busy the cafe was especially.

Would I recommend?

Yes I would 100% recommend Bing Soul, they have so many different options on their menu and should have something for everyone! My friends had all ordered different desserts and were all really happy with their orders, so everything they offered seemed really good! If you’re looking for a refreshing dessert that’s different from the usual, Bing Soul is definitely your place!
