Bucks Bar - Cathcart Road

I had seen people raving about this place all over Instagram for months and had been meaning to try it out for the longest time, and so happy I finally got the chance! After a long and exhausting day full of travelling, a Bucks Bar takeaway was just what I needed.

Halal Friendliness: Always make sure you double check what’s halal on the day of ordering in case it ever changes, I phoned up and they said ‘all the food is halal’. This place serves alcohol and in the evenings has a very loud rock n roll atmosphere with under 18s not allowed so I would recommend getting a takeaway for the evening.

Food

Mothership Burger:

A buttermilk fried chicken breast served in a brioche bun with herb mayo and ice berg lettuce, this was absolutely huge and a bit of a monster to eat! The chicken was perfectly cooked and very tasty, however I did find it a bit on the saltier side. Unless you have a really big appetite, I would highly recommend sharing this as its almost impossible to eat in one sitting - it was the biggest burger I’ve ever seen! The brioche bun was warm and soft and went alongside the burger so perfectly. The herb mayo was also really tasty and the perfect amount was put in. There was barely any lettuce in the burger, I would have liked to see a bit more but nevertheless, it was a great burger.

Hand Cut Rooster Chips:

Twice fried with skin on, I was really excited for these but honestly left a bit disappointed. These arrived totally bland in taste (they were completely unseasoned) and were really greasy and a bit hard. I kind of regretted getting these and wish I opted for their skinny or sweet potato fries instead. The portion size was really generous, I feel like these would definitely be much better when sitting in instead of taking away as the steam from the takeaway box definitely deteriorated the quality of these.

Ambiance

Bucks Bar has a loud, rock n roll atmosphere, with red neon lights in contrast with dimmed lighting and darkness. The atmosphere is definitely more ‘halal friendly’ during the day, so I would recommend sitting in for lunch!

Price: Items on the menu are reasonably priced considering the good value of items. My burger with fries came to around £14 and I could easily get two portions out of this. They also offer an Express Lunch menu with a main, fries and a drink for £11 which is also quite reasonable.

Service: I don’t feel as if I can comment much on this because I didn’t dine in, however the food was made quite fast which I was really happy about!

Overall, I was quite pleased with Bucks Bar and would definitely return again. They have lots of different types of burgers to offer so I’d be keen to try something different in the future. The packaging of the order was also really nice, I loved their branded boxes!

Would I recommend? Yes I would! This is a great value for money place and if you have a burger craving, Bucks Bar really does hit the spot. They are definitely one of the best burgers you could get in Glasgow!
